This How to... will walk you through the steps on how to properly cite information on articles. After you get the hang of it, it'll be easy to do.

Codes That will be Used

  1. <ref>
  2. </ref>
  3. <references/>

Step 1

Locate which information you wish to cite.

Step 2

Enter Source Mode and locate the area you wish to place your citation(s).

Where your typing cursor is, that is where the citation takes place. It does not have to be at the end of the sentence, you can put it next to a word if you'd like.

Step 3

Now, type in <ref> and </ref>

And in between the two, put the website that you had taken your information from.

The green line is the website, while the red line indicates the name of whatever it is you're citing.

Notes

  1. The name of whatever it is that you're citing, is entirely up to you (and your choice of either: putting it there or not). With this one for example, I used Prologue and Character Summaries to let the reader know what was taken from the website.
  2. There needs to be a space between the website and the name of whatever it is you're citing. Also, when you name it you both the website and name must be within brackets (check the picture).

More to Step 3

What will it look like with or without the name?

What about without the name but the brackets are still there enclosing the website?

Step 4

Okay, almost there! Now that the linking is complete, the final step is to create a section for it in the article. Name it: Citation.

This part's easy, don't worry! All you gotta do is make the section, and then go to Source Mode and type in: <references/>

And... you're all done!
